User / El Kite Pics / Coquille River Lighthouse - the Lantern Room
Dave W. / 888 items
The lantern room atop the Coquille River Lighthouse, in Bandon, Oregon.

This lighthouse marks the point where the Coquille River empties into the Pacific Ocean. First lit in 1896, it was abandoned in 1939, its duties assumed by an electric lamp on a post.

This lantern room once housed a Fourth Order Fresnel lens. The actual whereabouts of the lens are unknown. The local old-timers say it sits at the bottom of the Coquille River.

I used a KITE to fly the camera.
