Horsfield's tarsier (Cephalopachus bancanus) - Danum Valley, Malaysia

Also known as the Western Tarsier, this species occurs in Borneo and parts of Sumatra. Like all tarsiers its entirely nocturnal and a ferocious little predator, it mostly feeds on insects and arthropods but it has been known to consume bats, snakes (even venomous ones), and sleeping birds. They are listed as vulnerable by IUCN due to habitat loss.

Whipscorpion (Amblypygi) - Cordillera Escalera Conservation Area, Peru

A rather pretty amblypygid I came across on one of my nighwalks in Peru. I only saw a few with this shiny glossy look, I suspect its because it has recently shed its exoskeleton. These arthropods look fierce but are completely harmless.

Galapagos land iguana (Conolophus subcristatus) - North Seymour Island, Galapagos National Park, Ecuador

Besides the marine iguanas, the Galapagos islands are home to endemic land iguana species as well. There are 3 species of land iguana found in the Galapagos, this is the most abundant of the 3, Conolophus subcristatus. A land iguana was actually the first Galapagos wildlife I saw, I spotted an individual basking on a rock before I had even gotten off the plane! And then several more on the subsequent bus ride.

Like the marine iguanas the terrestrial iguanas are mostly vegetarian, the land iguanas will feed on a variety of vegetation found in their dry habitats but cacti make up the bulk of their diet. This large male was photographed as he moved among the rocks munching on various shrubs and bushes growing amidst the rocks.

Galápagos flycatcher (Myiarchus magnirostris) - Galapagos National Park, Ecuador

I still have a plethora of images to share from the Galapagos. Here is one of the charismatic Galapagos Flycatcher, this species is endemic to the Galapagos Islands and can be found on most of them. Their behavior is similar to that of other flycatchers I have observed, they will sit on a branch and dart out and capture insects as they fly by. I often observed them moving about in pairs, this was the male and the female was perched nearby as well. Very curious little birds that often moved closer to get a look at people as opposed to further away.

Scinax ruber - Buenaventura Reserve, Ecuador

There were consistently large aggregations of these just a few 100 meters away from where I lived but it took me a few months to find them because all my forays into the night tended to be farther off and I would bypass the area they were in almost right away. In addition they were only really vocal during rain and I would often choose not to venture out if it was actively raining. I'm lucky I found them before I left, I rather enjoyed photographing these little frogs as they called from amid the tall grass. It was a challenge to move through the grass and photograph them calling without spooking them as all the grass was interlocked and disturbing even a far away piece would cause a reverberation across the whole area. I met with mixed success when trying to photograph these and more often than not they would hop away or stop calling but the odds were in my favor and I eventually got some shots I was content with.
