Colas Rail Class 60 No 60047 Scarfell Pike has just left the Calder Bridge Loop after running round and is climbing Oakenshaw bank to join the old Midland Main line with 6E86 the 0815 Middleton Towers to Monk Bretton passing the photographers gathered at the foot crossing.

You would never believe that this was a main line with express trains booked over it.

Colas Rail Class 60 No 60047 Scarfell Pike running round 6E86 the 0815 Middleton Towers to Monk Bretton at Oakenshaw Junction, the driver is switching everything off at this end before he changes ends to set back onto the train. Worked those two signals many times when I was signalman at Oakenshaw North Junction in the 80s, lots more traffic up and down the bank in those days.

Midland Pullman HST takes the "Old Road" at Rotherham Masborough Junction Class 43 No 43047 leading 1Z62 the 0742 Berwick-upon-Tweed to Penzance, 43055 was on the rear.
