For Macro Monday, the theme is "Favorite Books" (Later changed to "My Favourite Novel" apparently). My first thought was the Oz books, which practically formed my childhood. BUT, since most people only know the movie, and are not aware of the 38 wonderful books, for children, which were written at the turn of the century (about 1900-1920), I decided to go with my second favorite books.

So I went with Jane Austen, whose sharp wit and turn of phrase, subtle social commentary (although I suspect it wasn't considered so subtle at the time it was written), gentle humor, and a really good way with romantic misadventures, won my heart many years ago.

How to show Jane Austen books.... I chose Pride and Prejudice.... what to do!??? So, borrowing a LOT from the 1995 miniseries of the book, I decided to use dress materials, to indicate the way all upper class females were dressed, how much time was spent making and maintaining those dresses, and the delicacy of the materials (which limited the women of the time to only certain approved activities, of course).

So, lace and cloth.
