I recently bought a second hand Iphone 8 not to use as a phone but as a music player for the car. I thought I would try out its camera and I was quite impressed. It is certainly easier to transfer images from the Iphone to my Mac than when I use my regular android phone . I will not be using the phone very often prefer a camera that allows me to shot in Raw files

This is a shot of the very delicate blossom of Blackthorn which comes out quite some time before the more commonly seen May blossoms of Hawthorns

Its pretty amazing that people have been getting the time from this clock since the mid fourteenth century . I have an image of Michel de Montaigne, Victor Hugo, Napoleon, Marie Curie,Picasso and Marcel Proust checking the time on their way to important meetings in Paris
The beautiful gilded clock is hanging on the Clock Tower of the Conciergerie. It is situated at the junction of Quai de l’Horloge and Boulevard du Palais in the 1st arrondissement of Paris. The Conciergerie clock was the first exterior public clock in France
The Clock Tower was built between 1350 and 1353. In 1371 the original clock was placed on the tower. In 1585, the clock was enhanced by Germain Pilon who added the gilded decorations . Which include a multicoloured face with allegories of the Law and Justice framing the clock.

The clock was damaged during the French Revolution and it was not until 1849 that clockmaker Lepaute restored the clock to its present glory

** A landscape taken in Thixendale in North Yorkshire . These chalk valleys in the Wolds usually do not have large trees in them usually there are just small Hawthornes . This row of trees was clearly deliberately planted many years ago though I have no idea why they were placed in the Dale . However they do look rather handsome

It is a little perverse to take a photograph of this cherry tree in our garden through a glass window, when I could have got a clear shot outside. However I did rather like the perspective of the tree seen from our bedroom window.

** Back to the sunny chalk cliffs at RSPB Bempton to see how the group of Puffins are faring . One of the Puffins seems rather cross at a lone Guillemot who is invading their space . Living close together on cliffs the seabirds are Bempton spend a lot of time trying to keep hold of their bit of territory
