A mallard (Anas platyrhynchos) dead on the retaining wall above the canal. Or, like Monty Python's Norwegian Blue parrot, is he just resting?

As I was walking down the canal path just north of Greenhill Road, I heard a noise behind me which I think, was telling me to get out of the way. The path narrows here down to a "fat barrier" restricting access to the canal path (not restrictive enough!). Since this scooter is illegal anywhere in public , pavement, path road, and I was on foot and therefore entitled to walk along the canal path, I ignored the rider who overtook me across Greenhill Road and sped further on.
