In the 1870s, Wild Goose Bill Condit moved to the Coleville Reservation (right across the river from the Big Bend Wildlife Area) and set up a trading post. He married an "Indian woman" named Julia and they had three sons. Wild Goose might also have had another wife or partner on the Reservation and they had a few children as well.
In 1895, at the age of 62, Wild Goose Bill found himself on a ranch likely on the Big Bend. There, he had an affair with his daughter-in-law's sister. Her husband (I assume) wasn't thrilled with this. They had a shoot out over her and both were killed.
This spirit ran in the Condit family as Wild Goose's brother also died in a fight over a woman (he was stabbed to death). His other brother died from a gunshot wound, though I don't know if it was related to heartbreak.
