Being out with the long lens dedicated to making wildlife portraits is a pretty new experience for me. Especially with the 2x range extender to bring my 70-200mm f/4 to an 140-400mm f/8. Having enough light can bring you actually very nice results as this sharp portrait of the Lynx proofs. I am very happy that he or she was willing to pose for my camera.

After a short hike over a narrow and natural trail my son (4 yo) and I visited the Hochfall waterfall near Bodenmais. We had lots of fun climbing over roots and stones down the gorge. The fall itself is not an easy one to photograph and you need a wide angle lens (in my case 24 mm) to put it into the right perspective. We had a funny, small picnic and happily hiked out. Back at the apartment we had a chocolate cup and cake.

The weekend before the easter-weekend was drawn by a ever changing weather situation. Pure sunshine interchanged with rain and hail almost every 20 minutes. It was after six in the afternoon, the sun was already going to set when I captured this departing storm cell which caused a spectacular light show with rainbows a few moments earlier.

Have been out for a little walk and was looking for the fire salamander. Nevertheless, I did not expect to actually see him in the very first try! I was already on the way back to the car park. Light was fading out and was becoming too dark for handheld photography. Then I nearly walked into this pretty little dinosaur! And how patient he was! I was able to take pictures of him for over 20 minutes. That made it possible to lay down completely flat to the ground. Have been using my base cap as a tripod. Set the lens to manual focus, due to auto focus failed in the low light conditions. Deactivated image stabilization and raised ISO to 6400. This shot is taken at 192 mm with f/4 and 5 seconds of exposure time.

This trip was dedicated to meet with my family and to take pictures of the amazing volcanic landscapes within the Atlantic ocean. The photograph was taken at the very first evening, when I have arrived at the airport, took the rental car and drove up to the Caldera de las Cañadas. This is a huge volcanic crater at 2000 m over the ocean and with 17 km in diameter. 500 meters high rock walls form the crater rim. In the middle of the crater, the Pico del Teide rises 3715 m over the ocean. A very otherworldly scenery.
