With an abundance of prey and little snow the GGOs appear to be thriving this winter, so fortunate to be able to watch and photograph these amazing Owls !!

While hiking back to my vehicle along the Maligne river and close to dark I came across a couple of fresh moose wallows and tracks, the strong smell from the wallows and low light made my senses peak when suddenly this beautiful huge bull came crashing and grunting from the dense brush, the surprise encounter certainly made for some shaky shots however being familiar with this particular bull I was able to relax and take a somewhat steady shot before he continued on in his search for a mate !!

I waited patiently for this amazing little Pika to return to a meadow where it would gather as much grass as it could carry and take it high into the boulders to its winter haystack !!
