This is one of those shots I have been after for a while, with a clear sky so the sun can softly illuminate the beautiful grounds of the St Enodoc Church, those of you with an Eagle eye will remember this was the location where Horace greeted the congregation just before Christmas

We are so lucky that this idyllic location is just a short distance from home. The church dates back to at least the 12th century, however during the 16th century sand from the nearby dunes had become a real problem so much so that by the 18th century the church had become completely submerged in sand (no I am not making it up๐)
Evidently the vicar and parishioners had to hold a service annually to maintain the tithes, so each year they were lowered into the sanctuary through a hole in the roof.
In 1863 following much hard work the church was restored and is as we see it today, obviously the dunes had to be stabilised in order to stop it being buried again.
Just opposite the path on the right is where Sir John Betjeman, Poet Laureate is laid to rest.
The church is used on a regular basis plus it is a very popular venue for weddings. Access to the church is by footpath only, one of which crosses the 12th fairway of The St Enodoc Golf Club, which is rated 87th in the world (website Top100golfcourses) and the 11th in England.
Our two dear sons and I have exchanged a few bob at the 19th hole after some very competitive rounds in years gone by.
The sea is Daymer Bay, and the cliff dipping down into the water is Stepper Point, where the treacherous Doom Bar is, and yes that is where Sharpโs got the name for their well known beer.
If ever you get a chance to visit Cornwall, this location alone is well worth a visit. The church has a visitors book with entries written by people from all around the world and are always so poignant.
Thank you for looking, the comments you leave are always so appreciated.
Mrs P has just read this, and has gone off to get a medical thermometer and something to check my pulse with๐ฑ๐
