While the weather may not have fully cooperated with the solar eclipse in south central Texas, the state flower did. The bluebonnets (Lupinus texensis) hit their peak blooming during our visit, thrilling botanically inclined visitors as well as a myriad of pollinators, including this lovely fiery skipper (Hylephila phyleus).

Well, near Amsterdam.

A critically timed trip to see the tulip fields in Holland.
A trip I thought my wife would like, with a strategic stop on route at Kinderdijk so I could photograph windmills. Oh, and Bruges on the way back 😄
As it happened, the tulips were just as amazing as the windmills were.

I thought I'd have to drive around to find fields like these but they were everywhere. These were just by our hotel so we could wander out each evening and photograph them.

It really is an amazing sight to behold.
