“Mud, mud, glorious mud
Nothing quite like it for cooling the blood
So follow me follow, down to the hollow
And there let me wallow in glorious mud”
Flanders & Swann, The Hippoppotamus Song
This decaying wreck at Forton Lake, Gosport is only accessible at low tide, so Dave (Solent Poster) and I donned our wellies and attempted to get to it. We really hadn’t reckoned on so much mud. For those that like black, thick, oozing, clinging, quicksand type mud I heartily recommend a trip there. But it was worth it as it’s a really great wreck. However, near impossible to photograph, or at least the way we would wish. So much background junk, no water around it of course, and constantly getting stuck in the mud. We made it back, although somewhat exhausted and a lot dirtier than when we had started.
Really looked best converted to mono but left a little colour in the wreck timbers to give some focus to them.
