The full moon rising over Portsmouth Harbour.
For the longest time I have wanted to get a telephoto shot of a full moon rising behind the viewing deck of Portsmouth’s Spinnaker Tower. But coinciding a full moon rising in the correct position at the right time of day is a rarity. After waiting months, finally things looked promising and we set up on Gosport promenade full of hope and expectancy.
Naturally, things didn’t go to plan…. despite my calculations the moon rose further to the right than I had planned for, and clouds had rolled in. The moon finally appeared for a few minutes, and the only choice remaining was a wide shot, which works well enough, but isn’t the one I was after. Still, one must never forget the landscape photographer’s mantra:- there is always next time!
