La Fortuna, Alajuela, CR
Before going on a sloth tour (where we saw 5 sloths, both Three-toed and Two-toed, and a Jacamar) we stopped in at a little feeding station, which I never found the name of - I think it may be Sendero Bogarin (well thats what it is according to ebird).
Anyhoodle, this place turned out to be one of the best places for photographing birds on the trip and we got to see birds such as the Yellow-Throated Euphonia, Red-Legged Honeycreeper, Gray-Headed Chachalaca, Green Honeyeater and four Collared Aracaris. I also found it interesting that we found a Red-Winged Blackbird as well at the feeding station!
Euphonias are kind of confusing but there seems to be two 'varieties' in CR - I find that some of the Euphonias have yellow up until their bill (like this one) and some have it until the lower throat (there is blue between the bill and belly) and I must of seen both varieties because looking back on my photos revealed that I may of actually had a White-Vented Euphonia at Rancho as well!
Euphonias are a subfamily of the finch and siskin family, and consists of 27 species, mostly with the same color scheme. Them and Chlorophonias make up the family euphoniinae.
