It was an interesting drive from Hipping Hall to Malham and not a route I had anticipated driving, but that's what you get when you rely on a sat-nav system without a peek at a proper map. Hilly single track roads with dry stone walls either side and higher than the car makes for a 'must make more of an effort next time to note where I'm going' moment.
But we got there, and only 10 minutes later than the sat-nav had initially calculated - a couple of 'is that a road or a farm track' moments led to a few detours. Malham is well worth a visit and the four and half mile route takes in Janet's Foss, Gordale Scar and obviously Malham Cove is well marked, but try and pick a day when the ultra marathon elite aren't in town! I don't think any of the above entered.

Hipping Hall, Kirkby Lonsdale
I inadvertently mentioned to someone that I liked her flower album and was inspired to take one myself in the hope that I could join her group. So, Emily this is just for you.
In case this doesn't meet the stringent high standards you have set for inclusion into the group, allow me to mitigate the extraordinary difficult conditions I was under whilst taking it.
1) I don't have all the right gear... honest!
2) It was the wrong lens.. everybody knows you need an f2.8 or less for flowers - don't you?.
3) I was down to only 65% battery power - touch and go if I'd get a couple of frames off before it died.
4) I'd already packed the tripod in the boot.
5) There was a light breeze - the little tinkers moved!
6) The building is straight... it's the flowers that are leaning.
7) It was a long tiring walk from the hotel to find nice flowers (just look how far away it is).
8) I don't know anything about flowers
9) Does not knowing bar my entry from inclusion?
10) I think they are pink in my defence.
11) At least one of them must be in focus.
12) Kathy deflated my enthusiasm by taking better pictures on her smartphone.
13) It was just after breakfast and I was in two minds as to whether we should chance a runner from the hotel before checking out.

I've booked us this overnight stay at this great hotel I was informed, just before the credit card bill arrived. You know the one don't you? It's where they filmed an episode of 'The Trip'. Weren't they all bloody expensive hotels with Michelin stars! I retorted. Well I found it on Secret Escapes and it was too good a deal to pass up, and besides breakfast is included and I know how you like a full English when we go away.
And so we set off Friday afternoon for our overnight stay...
Can't fault Mrs R's taste... this place really was exquisite and the breakfast lived up to my own expectations, even if it did look like a Michelin offering (sometimes quality outweighs quantity, which is no bad thing for my waistline).
