An Ceann Mòr, Inveruglas, Loch Lomond

An impromptu stop off on the way to Glen Coe at the northern end of Loch Lomond. It's a stunning vista from this vantage point, but it was the wrong time of day for great photography. I did manage to grab this shot of this girl...and no it's not a setup or Mrs R.

What the hell is it...
An Ceann Mòr (Gaelic for large headland) is an eight metre tall timber pyramid at Inveruglas on the banks of Loch Lomond. It is the fourth and final commission of the Scottish Government’s pilot Scenic Routes initiative, and is intended to serve as a viewpoint for tourists to soak up the scenery whilst promoting young design talent. Consisting of 31 individual steps it harbours a central tunnel to frame views for those with limited mobility.

Over 100 entries were made for the high profile competition which was won by Daniel Bar, Stephane Toussaint and Sean Edwards who have since gone on to form BTE Architecture. The timber clad structure will fade to silver grey due to the actions of weathering, helping it blend into the surrounding landscape.

There can only be one song for this... enjoy!
