The Sagittarius Milky Way sets in the southwest early this time of year. Now is a good time to catch its magnificent vistas.

This image reveals the Milky way from Sagittarius to southern Aquila.

Equatorially mounted and sidereal clock driven Pentax 67, 75mm f/4.5 SMC Takumar @ f/4.5. 40 minute exposure on Kodak E200 film.

A wide-field image centered on Messier 8 and revealing both the small and large Sagittarius Star Cloud's as well as the Great Rift.

Pentax 67 and 200mm f/4 SMC Takumar wide open and E200 exposed for 45 minutes. Transparency scanned on an Epson V600.

How much detail and faint nebulae can be brought out of a 30 minute exposure on 100 speed film? Granted the process is destructive, but there is a lot to see here.
