The lion was made in 1837 and originally stood at the Lion Brewery, a short distance eat, It was moved to Waterloo station in 1949 and painted red. It reached its current site (and paint free state) in 1966.

Rainbow lights illuminate the south bank of the Thames from Westminster Bridge. The London Eye wheel next to what used to be County Hall. County Hall was the home of London County Council (LCC) and then the Greater London Council (GLC). In these tourist experience days it now houses the Sea Life aquarium, Shrek's Adventure and the London Dungeon (plus a hotel)
