Santa Ana National Wildlife Refuge, Hildago County, Texas, USA. The Santa Ana NWR is a true gem threatened by the construction of the border wall. Olive sparrows there pop out briefly from the underbrush to grab a few insects and seeds before scurrying back to safety.

Bentsen-Rio Grande Valley State Park, Texas, USA. Green jays are a major reason to bird along the Mexico-USA border. These beautiful birds readily visit the feeding stations put up during the winter months in the refuges. But they also can be found making a lot of noise within the brush and trees along the trails.
