After the summer I've had I hate to see it go. It started raining at exactly 7:30 to let us know fall has arrived. I'll be ok in a minute....... :-) This guy is a Turkey Vulture, he and his friends hang out till after their wings dry out in the mornings and hunt until the updrafts calm in the early evenings. Don't let the trill of the copper colored water below fool you, Kautz Creek is notorious for it's eons old reshaping of the landscape around it. It's been relatively quiet since 2006, but don't turn your back on it, it becomes a raging torrent of debris every time the mountain burps. :-) I have pics of some of the destruction, but they aren't very photogenic, just awe inspiring in the amount of trees and land torn asunder.
the pic in comments shows it from a few miles north, note how wide the path is..... :O

Darling Tonia and I found Victoria to be such a wonderful place even though we never got to dig deeper than the 'must see' stuff. Great people and good beer is what I'll remember most. I'll post the standard shot O' the gorgeous Empress later, but I laugh every time I see this one, hope ya'll do too.

What I recall from these Olympics as it was a bit of a debacle beginning with the lack of snow and ending with the death of a contestant. What I just read was there was a whole lot wrong with the timing economics wise for the area, a lot of anger from the folks living in the area over the 'superfluous' spending when they had real needs elsewhere. Well, the games went on and they were fantastic. After a moment of silence for Georgian luger, Nodar Kumaritashvili, the sprawling event went on well for the competitors although onlookers had some issues. Whatever, live and learn, what they left behind is nothing short of a wonder and it kickstarted the playland that thrives today.
