Stelvio Pass was on my list for some time, but the actual plan to visit there, was a day later. Unfortunately the weather forecast for that day promised near apocalyptic weather with heavy snow fall at higher altitudes. The last thing you need there, is to be caught in heavy snow fall at this very curvy, very steep and very narrow road, so the plan had to change. The road itself is engineering mastery, it has extremely picturesque surrounding and it is a joy to drive, especially when there are not many people driving the road (many gave up on coming due to the awful forecast). What might be fun to drive at low season, might be complete hell during peak summer months, so plan your visit accordingly.
This particular shot is from the very top of the pass with lovely lonely standing hotel with views towards the valley beneath. As it goes with any photography, the result doesnt show how cold and chilly it was, while I was waiting and praying for any car to pass during this very quite evening (rather ironic as normally you wish to have this entire road for yourself, but when it comes to long exposure you wish there was an army of cars to create light trails). I was lucky just 2 times, and this is one of those.
