Not all of Dartmoor is true moorland. The National Park is an agricultural place of business for many residents with field enclosures on lower ground protected from the worst weather by the hills. No shortage of open moorland for keen outdoor types!

Le Château de Neuschwanstein (nouveau rocher au cygne) a été construit au XIXe siécle par Louis II de Bavière. Louis II est connu comme excentrique. Il a fait construire ce château sur un éperon rocheux au prix de travaux colosseaux et très couteux. A sa mort le château n'était pas terminé mais il a tout de suite était ouvert au public pour renflouer les caisses de l'état.
Walt Disney s'est inspiré de Neuschwanstein pour l'architecture du « château de la Belle au bois dormant » du premier Disneyland, ouvert en 1955 en Californie.
Neuschwanstein Castle (new rock swan) was built in the nineteenth century by Ludwig II of Bavaria. Ludwig II is known as eccentric. He built this castle on a rocky outcrop. The work was enormous and very expensive. At his death (1886) the castle was not finished but he immediately opened to the public to bail out the state.
Walt Disney was inspired by Neuschwanstein architecture for the "castle of Sleeping Beauty" of the first Disneyland opened in 1955 in California.
