The ceiling. The Palau was built 1905-1908. Designed in the Catalan modernista style by the architect Lluís Domènech i Montaner (1850-1923). Domènech gave great creative freedom to a variety of local artisans and craftsmen to produce the fabulous ornamentation, sculpture, and decorative structural elements for which the Palau is famous.

Modernist building in Barcelona, a remodel of a previously built house. Redesigned in 1904 by architect Antoni Gaudí (1852-1926). The local name for the building is "Casa dels ossos" (English: "House of Bones"), as it has a skeletal organic quality.
