Mt. Hood from Panorama Point in Hood River. The smoke from fires and burn piles filled the valley with a haze, just as the clouds started to close in on the peak. A few minutes later, she was completely obscured.

Howling at the Moon. Weird, bizarre or call them what you want, but the unusual rock formations that can be seen from the shores of Mono Lake are known to geologists as Tufa (Too Fah). When the water get’s too low they appear and it looks like something from another planet. It’s limestone that, when emersed in water at certain temperatures, forms these shapes. They often resemble sculptures. Notice the large figure in the left foreground looks like a large wolf, with his back to you, who is howling at the Moon.
